Antigone Blackwell, also known as Tiggy, is a Jazz Trombonist who graduated from the BMus(Jazz) course at RWCMD with a First Class Honours degree in July 2024. Tiggy was also the inaugural recipient of the ‘Anjool Malde Jazz Prize’.
Tiggy is an active professional jazz trombone player on the U.K. music scene, born in Oxford, raised in Lancashire with an English mother and Welsh father and is now based in Cardiff. Tiggy plays a variety of styles at a number of different events such as festivals, weddings, special occasions and jazz clubs. Tiggy has previously played with a number of successful bands and artists including 'YolanDa Brown', 'Afro Cluster', 'Soul Lotta Funk' and 'The Navarones', as well as recording an album and touring Wales and England with eight piece jazz band, ‘The Mingus Project’. A number of her projects have lead to a mention in 'Jazzwise' magazine.
Over the years, Tiggy has had the privilege of receiving mentorship from incredible musicians such as Dennis Rollins, Steve Waterman, Mark Bassey and Kevin Holbrough.
During her four year degree, Tiggy directed her organisational skills into running the AmserJazzTime concerts in the Carne Foyer,
which showcases two different bands from
the Jazz Department at RWCMD every Friday evening.

Tiggy is currently working as the Students'
Union President at The Royal Welsh
College of Music & Drama
alongside her music
career.
